Behind The Mirror
Through The Looking Glass
An 8-foot mirror with a secret way in.
Most people will walk past it, catch their reflection, and keep going. That's the point.
Through The Looking Glass is a mirrored cube with a hidden door. Find it, duck inside, and you're standing in an infinity room, watching the playa through two-way windows. Everyone outside sees themselves. You see everything. At night, the roles flip.
Status: Proposed for the 2027 burn. Design and engineering underway.
Concept and production: Kimberly Driedger, Lunar Disco Haus
meet the Artist
Kimberly Driedger has spent more than a decade producing for television, where big casts, tight timelines, and live logistics leave no room for guesswork.
She brings that same production discipline to experiential design: spaces built to surprise people, pull them in, and make them feel something. For the past five years she has co-led Camp Morning Wood, an 80–100 person theme camp, running layout, logistics, operations, and design in one of the most demanding build environments anywhere.
The Looking Glass is where it all comes together: production rigor, a designer's eye, and a soft spot for anything that sparkles.
How You Can Support
The Looking Glass is independently produced, and every mirror panel, weld, and LED gets it closer to the playa. There are a few ways to help:
Chip in. Every contribution goes directly to materials, fabrication, and getting it to the desert.
Build with us. Fabricators, mirror suppliers, and anyone with a welder: we'd love to talk in-kind.
Spread the word. Share this page. Secrets travel best by word of mouth.
